choice of split-toned colour cast (if any) which is applied.The left side
of the black and white image below may better suit a severe or modern
framing treatment, implying a record or preservation of the past, while
the right side is better suited to a familiar subject, or to imply days-gone-by.
The treatment must suit the subject matter and, ultimately, the purpose
and audience for the image.
