portraits... well... pictures of people. The word portrait may imply too much formality. A good picture is one that captures the essence of the subject. (period.)

Sometimes the unfamiliar atmosphere of a studio can leave the subject unreachable by the lens. Equipment and the busy confusion surrounding it can leave the formation of a bond between the camera and a photographic subject cold.

That's why we make house calls (so to speak). Location photography can be more demanding on one person: the photographer.

For everyone else (namely those being photographed) it's usually less hassle, less work, and more relaxing and personal. A portrait, even a picture of the family pet, is enhanced by familiar surroundings, especially when they reflect some aspect of the subject's character.
